International Baccalaureate Programme

Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

IB History in Highline

• Mount Rainier High School has offered the IB Diploma Programme since 1989. 
• Pacific Middle School and Mount Rainier High School are currently applying to offer the IB Middle Years Programme with a target authorization date of August 2017.

MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

The MYP is a five-year programme, which can be implemented in a partnership between schools, or in several abbreviated (two, three or four year) formats. Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP).
